2010 Fx4
2010 Fx4
Just bought a 2010 Fx4 and has less than 500 miles on it. Now I have to admit I know very little about cars let alone transmissions, so I'm just curious if other people had the same issue as me or if its perfectly normal.
The issue that I'm having is that from a low speed or from a stop to acceleration it seems like my transmission is confused or slipping a bit. It never happens at speeds above 15 mph. So, for example cruzing around in a parking lot at low speeds and then accelerating it seems like the transmission doesn't know what gear to be in and it shifts hard. All the vitals are good on the transmission.
No idea whats going on...anyone know what I'm talking about?? Is this normal for a new truck?? Will it go away??

there are tsb for this that can correct this for you take it to your local dealer they may tell you to drive it alittle longer for the trans to learn more this is a common complaint i had it done on my truck and to me it helped but still not perfect then i got my custom tune from vmp and installed it and its alot better with better throttle responce as well
I also bought a 2010 F-150 Lariat Supercrew with the 6 speed transmission and I am also having the same problem,( between 1st and 2nd gear the truck seems to not know what gear to go in) The truck now has 8000 miles on it and the problem has not gone away. I was wondering if you have found out the cause and possibly a fix for the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated Thanks.
my 2010 platnium
My new platnium is doing the same thing. The service guys told me ford is aware of this and are working on a fix as we speak. How is the overall accelaration? My truck had very impressive performance till my tranny went out. If they dont fix it i will be using the lemon law and get the new 2011 with the 5.0 or 6.2
I took mine to the dealer about two weeks ago and they said everything was fine. They test drove my truck and plugged it into their computers. He told me that if nothing shows up on the computer then there is nothing he can do. So, I thought maybe I was crazy or just over reacting. I'm just trying to deal with it for now. Now have 1400 miles on the car and the problem has not gone away.
But these 6 speed transmissions suck in my opinion. It's constantly shifting gears it seems. Anytime I just need a slight increase in power or speed it has to downshift. Another issue I have with the transmission is that when I slow down below 5 miles an hour or so (say to go over a bump or something) the truck down shifts into first gear and it feels like the breaks are on. Then when I accelerate its a hard shift into second. Anyone else getting this issue?
