When I start my engine up cold everything on the truck is perfect. The motor is responsive as it should and it shifts through all the gears properly.

So I have two problems.

1.) After my engine temp has risen to the normal level (to the N in normal to be specific, Does not really get to much hotter unless sitting still and running.) there is loss in power with the engine and it hesitates when you start to accelerate from a stop. For example I go to recover my fishing boat at the boat launch and go to climb the ramp and it has barely enough power to get up the ramp.

2.) My second problem is something to do with my transmission I believe but am not sure. It is the E40D Tranny. The normal shift patter is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, lockout, 4th, lockout. Well it shifts correctly when the engine is cold, but as soon as the engine is up to temperature it shifts 1st, 2nd, 3rd to lockout without holding 3rd gear, then into 4th-lockout.

If any body has any ideas that would be great. So far with the transmission I replaced the Neutral Position Sensor and it did not change anything. The thing I did notice though was when I check the transmission oil (while the engine is idling) it shows it is far to full. Would this be a culprit towards the transmission problem?

You always check transmission fluid when it is running and in park. Yes, too much fluid can be a problem.
