i just had my tranny rebuilt pulled it out myself brought it to a shop guy said the sprag went and took out the OD band. the original problem that i got it rebuilt for has come back. ive been reading up and i think it is the transmission range sensor
the problem is if i am driving down the road at any speed if i let off the gas and press the pedal again it winds up like its in neutral if i press the gas pedal hard it will catch very roughly and drive fine until i let off the gas again never received any codes until today i pulled up p0720 on my edge programmer after the truck displayed trans malfunction and went into failsafe mode. p0720 is the output shaft speed sensor circut code so i am also wondering if it could be that?

 

I was getting the same code..ended up being a bunch of different things on my tranny.. check my thread F-150 no reverse

 

i just got the tranny rebuilt tho i dont understand why the same thing is happening only 3 weeks after i put the tranny in. drove perfect until a couple days ago the only thing that is different this time is my truck threw that code and went into failsafe mode and displayed tranny malfunction

Tranny speed Sensor is on the way tuesday arrives ill post the verdict

 

the symptoms on my tranny are slightly different i have reverse i started it up today and it barely moves i have to rev it up to 3 -4 grand just to get it to roll reverse works perfect though i removed the speed sensor and it has a little ding on the metal part and light metal shavings stuck to it i wonder if the ding is from when the sprag and od band went ,before i got the tranny rebuilt, something hit it and damaged it and caused it to fail slowly and just the other day it finaly bit the dust and threw the code
i donno just thinkin out loud

 

oss sensor arrived still no fix must be wiring does anybody have a wiring diagram for the oss sensor if not im gonna try rewiring the last 6 inches of wire to the sensor. it looks faded and dry

 

Think a PCM reflash may do the job?

 

i opened up the door kick panels where the wiring harness is and found lots of water so i removed third brake light resealed it and now im guessing that part of the oss sensor circuit is corroded if anyone has a wiring diagram or can tell me where the circuit goes to from the tranny
i also brought up another code it was cylinder misfire on #4 but that could be because the truck goes into failsafe mode

 

i also brought up the oss sensor gauge on my edge it reads 0 until the truck goes into failsafe mode and then reads between 300 and 1000 depending on what the rpms are

 

ok so i was just out in the rain going over some wiring i think i found the source of the leak theres a plastic plug on the passenger side right behind and below the fuse box was leaking water so i removed it and put some rvt around and sealed er up hopefully no more water but still cant find what is wrong with the output shaft speed sensor circuit ive been looking for a bad connection i had wiring issues before on the driver side rear kick plate the radio would stay on and the memory seats wouldn't work and the door dinger found a connecion two purple wires and looked like hockey tape around the connection just soaked up the water and corroded it could it possibly be the same type of idea?

if anybody has any input please help im starting to go mad over this
