F-150 Tranny Leak at Dip Tube & Bell Housing

I have an F-150 Automatic OD tranny, leaking at the dip tube where it meets the housing. The previous owner had a hose wrapped around it with hose clamps. I removed them and felt a very small separation between the dip tune and the case toward the outside of the bell housing. Can I repair it (A) without removing the pan, such as RTV? (B) If I remove the pan and drain the fluid what can I expect? A rubber O-ring? Does the tube/O-ring assembly come out without completely removing the transmission? Any help would be appreciated.

peace,

haans

there is I think one bolt holding the tube in at least on my 99. You can RTV it.

If I unbolt the tube from the engine bock, can I pull the dip tube out of the casing? or is the tube bolted inside the pan?

I was told there is an additional short 3 inch tube inside the pan which attaches to the fill tube/dip tube.

I was going to try to RTV it without pulling the tube. There is a small crack between the two you can feel with a fingernail. I was going to try to push black RTV into the gap with a toothpick. The pressure should be low there. What seals the tube to the housing to begin with? I assume an O-ring inside the bell housing, under the pan.

Any help is appreciated
