'98 F150 Overdrive light flashing?
'98 F150 Overdrive light flashing?
Well hears the deal. Ive got a 98 F150 automatic 4X4 with 217,000. Its got the original 4.6l engine and tranny and still pullin strong, shifts smooth through all the gears. However the last 3 days on my way home (25 mile drive mostly on interstate) as I get close to home the overdrive off light starts flashing, if i stop and shut the truck off it, when I start it up again it goes away. When its flashing it drives and shifts the same as when its not. Still goes in and out of overdrive fine. Talked to a few people but all I can get is "Well shes throwin a code, bring her and we'll take a look."
Wondering if anyone has gone through this same problem and what they found out?
Any help is apreciated, thanks!

Transmission has several sensors for various functions.
The code will tell you which is failing, if that is the indeed the case.
Replacing a sensor should run around $160 parts and labor.

Thanks guys, got some time saturday morning and took it in to my buddies shop, the computer said it was a some kinda speed censor out on one of the wheels thats only working intermintently. Huge sigh of relief! Another question.... Guy in town wanting to sell a '96 F150. Its got 85,000 miles and a single owner truck, very clean, eddie bauer eddition, 4 in. lift 33 in tires, duals.. just a little si/do muffler probly flowmaster but i didnt look that close, a grille gaurd... needless to say a pretty slick old truck.
Wondering what it might be worth?
I'm thinking in the 4k range?... Miles help, but the age hurts it some.
