My brother inlaw is a transmission guy has worked for several tranny shops including AAMCO. They have all kinds of tricks to sell people on tranny rebuild he says everyone who walks in the door is told they need a rebuild. One shop he worked at would cut open filters to show people how much crap was in there. Filter doing its job doesent mean the trannys anywhere near dead. When you have a transmission problem the best thing to do is call several shops BEFORE you take it in to one. Get an idea of what they charge for overhauls the difference can be dramatic from one to another. Also find out what they actually do. I dont think they are ALL crooks but over half of them are.

Mine just wont go into drive. And it makes all kinds of sick nasty noises. Makes me think its from the previous owner because I never gave that truck any kind of hell.

Does anyone have the microfiche of the tranny? for the valve, filter etc? That would be great, I am starting to have the same problem and would like to know if I could fix this WITHOUT going to the shop. Thanks
