Haha oh man that sucks. Two days ago my transmission gave out. I locked my truck so it was almost impossible to move it due the the permanent AWD.

Just got a brand new transmission though, for free!

Tranny rebuilds are gonna cost around 2 grand including parts and labor, maybe $2500 at most. This is the time to tell them you want to beef this thing up, line pressure boost increases, new o/d band etc etc. A good rebuild kit includes alot of stuff and fixes common problem areas.

Genuinely feel ya, honest!

....But (I can't resist), I guess that shock-absorbing oil didn't cut it in yer trans

Hope it works out for ya

well i gatherd some energy today after work...hooked up a line pressure gauge and found I only had 90 psi WOT in D, 2 and 1 while it was slipping. Removed the pan and it was pretty clean. Fluid a little burnt but no metal or large amounts of clutch material. Air tested and had absolutly nothing from the forward clutch. Out came the transmission for dissasembly...Got to the input shaft and dissasembled the foward clutch assembly and there it was...a ripped forward clutch piston. So i guess the added power may not have been the culpret after all. either way aftermarket clutches and bands going in with a shift kit and beefed up torque converter. Not near as bad as I was expecting just thought id share my findings.

I think I lucked out with my rebuild. Rob's Transmission in Wichita KS is going to do a full rebuild with new torque converter and beefing it up for $1800.
