Will a 97 E4OD Tranny work in a 1994 truck????????????

Ok, the 1994 had a E4OD as well, but as I was finising the replacement I found that the way the electrical plugs lock on are a little different. The wiring and pins Look identical but I'm not sure. I wanted to splice in and solder the 97 harnes to my 94 truck but im not sure if my 94 truck computer will tell the 97 transmission to shift correcly? Is there and adatptor harnes out there???? Will my 94 truck tell the 97 tranny to work correctly? the transmissions are identical in all respects except the electrical plug locking feature (Both e4OD's 2 plugs) PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Yes, the the 95+ trannys are more improved internally anyway.

Also you noticed the updated manual lever position sensor. Which is the upgraded unit to be retrofitted all the way back to 89 if the old style MLPS has water intrusion failure. Splice color to color and you are good to go.

Talking Adrian was 100% right!!!

It worked perfect! I spliced the wires from the 1997 connectors to the chasis electrical system of my 1994 truck and it worked. Be advised if you are in this situation there is one wire that does not match the other in exact color. It was a red/white wire on the truck wiring, and the 97 transmission was solid red. This is a very hard job to do in your driveway and I almost was going freak out when I found the plugs to be a diferent stlye after it was completly installed but it all worked out perfectly. Thanks for the help, hope this helps anyone else in my situation.
