Question Vacum switch on front axle.

it is 25 degrees here in Virginia, and the 1st time I have really needed my 4x4 and my hubs are not locking in!!! I have read a bunch of other threads and I hear the solenoids clicking and I have all my lights on the dash. My question is can I manually use a flat head screwdriver to flip that vacum switch over to lock my hubs? I would love to try and jack it up and test it but I am know stuck in the alley behind my house..

Have your switch on 4 wheel drive. crawl undernieth there is a little plastic cover over the actuator, right above the oil folter on the front side of the axle. you will seal a little plunger on the actuator, ram it towards the passenger side/ compress the plunger and it will lock the hubs. you may want to disconnect the two vacuum lines on top so it stays locked in, depending whats wrong with it. The cover is held on by 3 10mm bolts.

Thank You, but...

You da man:santa: now I have a quick grip clamp on it and the truck is back in the driveway!!! Should the switch stay on when I release the clamp now that I have driven it i 4 wheel drive? I really don't like the idea of driving it around with a clamp on the switch. The vacum lines are unhooked, hell and they snapped when I barely touched them so I will be buying new ones. Again thank you
