Rough downshift on steep hill

I have a 2004 F-150 with 95,000 miles. It runs great and shifts smoothly. I did notice this past weekend, however, that it was downshifting roughly while cruising at 60 - 70 mph. This would only happen when I was moving up a steep hill and when the truck would automatically downshift (using cruise control). It felt like I was riding over those divots that are put on the side of the highway to keep you awake and on the road for about half a second or so. I guess my next step will be to take it to a transmission place, but wanted some ideas and input from the forum members here first. What do you think?

Besides the downshifting on a steep hill, it's still shifting smoothly.

When was the last time you had the transmission fluid changed - and did they just drop the pan or did they do a complete exchange with a machine?

The transmission was last serviced at 75K miles, but I'm not sure if they dropped the pan or not.
