'06 Skrew... Transmission Going Out??!!

My '06 skrew started making some odd noises this week. It's been shifting a little rough from 1st to 2nd when I punch it... normal driving it seems fine. I though the rough shift might be a sensor or maybe just a function of the slightly larger tires. However, this week things got worse. When I take it out of gear and into neutral or park, I can hear a "whirring" whistle type sound from underneath the truck. When i put it back into drive the whirring stops and it makes an fairly loud sound that I can only describe as a belt catching and the truck jerks a little bit.

I had a mechanic friend of mine take a very quick listen and he knew right off the bat that something was definitely f'd up in the trans. He has an '04 screw and wound up replacing his transmission at 47k miles out of warranty.

I've got 57,500 miles on my truck. I called the original dealership thinking I was screwed (no pun intended)... but he told me my truck should have a 5yr/60k powertrain warrantly. So I'm bringing it in first thing Monday morning.

Anyone else having premature transmission problems??

Sure enough... 57,500 miles into my 60,000 mile power train warranty and the transmission took a dump. Just a few hours after my previous post, on my way home from work, my truck fell out of gear while going about 30mph. It went downhill from there. Drove it to the dealership Monday morning and couldn't get above 2nd gear the whole way.

New transmission is in and I'm picking up my truck from the dealership in the morning.

This is the second Ford I've owned and the second transmission to fail prematurely on me. I will be thinking long and hard before I buy another Ford.
