Another Tranny Question:

I have a 1994 Ford F150 XLT Extended Cab, Short Box, 300I, 4x4 and the M5OD-R2 Transmission, I may have found a tranny, it's on a 1990ish F150 Reg Cab Short Box, I wanna know if it will even fit, And while the truck runs GREAT, but the tranny makes a lit of grinding sounds when changing Gears and such, I was told it had something 2 do with the shifter tower, is there anyone who desires to claim BS or could this be the problem?

Thanks in advance!

The 90ish M5OD-R2 will fit your 94. As for the grinding noise; in any manual transmission a grinding noise is caused by the gears not meshing together. A broken synchronizer or a defective clutch will cause this. If the gears are not pushed together enough they will also grind. In this case the shift mechanism is to blame.

It is impossible to check without removing the cover. To remove the cover you have to remove the transmission. Once the cover is off you can turn it upside down and check the shift mechanism.
