Shift Indicator not moving at all now

This started out as, the duel fuel tank button on the dash went through, as the bracket broke on our 15 year old 95 Ford F150 with E40D tranny.

So DH went to barley used and got a new face plate / Instrument panel as we noticed the other had a crack half way through the middle, so figured we just better replace it at the same time, It was $50. We also replaced a couple of the light bulbs in the cluster that had been blown for a while. SO all is going good, and put the instrument cluster back in, and now with the shift indicator cable hooked back up. DH says, he can shift the truck just fine, but the selector dont move. He says he things it spring loaded but I dont think so, I didnt seen any thing about spring loaded in the Haynes manual.

So I took it out and looked at it, noting looks cracked or broke, so maybe he didnt hook it up right or some thing.

Yall have any suggestions, By the way, He dont do internet, so here I am, as usual. Looking for information to tell him how to fix stuffl. LOL

I would like to get his truck fixed this week as he has been using my Journey all week, Please help!

Thanks,
Sharon

I Got it Fixed

I took the clear face plate off, and removed the black part of the instrument cluster and found a small spring inside. I put it on the end of the thing the wire is attached to and hooked it to the side post with a slit, and it works perfect.
