Troyer trans cooler??
Troyer trans cooler??
I'm going to be towing a TT weighing about 6500lbs and was doing some research on aftermarket coolers. I came across the Troyer Trans cooler with electric fan with built in thermostat.Does anyone have this and is it worth the money? Just not sure if it will make that much of a difference over the stock trans cooler???? Thanks for any help!!
Tranny cooler
I just installed a transcool unit purchased from Deiselsite. ($120) Huge cooler! Did some initial testing today and am running about 40 degrees cooler than previous equal conditions. I have a Scan guage so I know this to be accurate. The temperature ambient here today was about 100 degrees and after 25 miles of frewway driving the max temp of the tranny was 135. I will be testing with a load similar to yours in about a week and half on a trip to Pagosa Springs Co. My previous temps were running 200 -210 loaded with the stock tranny cooler. I am hoping to see it around 170-180 (loaded) with the new cooler. I also was looking at one with a fan and after inquiring on this forum the fan is useless unless your doing all city stop and go driving.
I'll let you know after the trip how it goes.

I put this on in my truck and it brought my temps down by about 50 degrees!

I agree, the little one with the fan is pretty much useless.

got back on Monday and overall the cooler dropped the temp about 50 degrees from where it was. The ambient air was 90 deg and the tranny was running about 160. Very pleased with the results.
