Exclamation why is my transmission fluid suddendly high?

I have a 2002 F150 FX4. Recently the OD light blinks, I read in these posts that it's an indicator for possible transmission trouble in the future, my question is why all the sudden is my fluid level over the "High" mark on the dipstick? I've never added fluid since my 5 years of ownership. Is this the begining of the end for my transmission or what?

You have to have the engine idling in PARK while checking the fluid level, otherwise, it will read high if checked with the engine off.

See your owner's manual....

You will have to have the system scanned to see what the computer is complaining about.

The mechanic just called, 2 codes. 1 was the overheating sensor. and 1 to do with valve body. have to drop pan to fix. New sensors, fluid and filter and hopefully all will be well.

Been many months now but a total transmission rebuild fixed the problem. It was expensive, but I had no choice

I'm guessing the torque converter was draining back; possibly a blown seal or check valve.

I was joking. Aamco used to be famous for rebuilding transmissions that didn't need rebuilding.
