Exclamation Tranny Question

Hey, I just put a somewhat new (Rebuilt) C6 tranny in my truck and i am wanting to know if the C6 automatically feeds fluid to the transfer case (New Process) because if it doesn't i will have to drop the transfer case in order to put fluid in it. I have not tried out the tranny yet because i don't want the transfer case to run dry.

Any help appreciated.

As far as I know, the fluid in the trany and the fluid in the T case are separate.
So no, there should not be any transfer of fluids between the 2.

Arrow M5OD-R2 Rebuild

Disregard the pre-title to this reply, I made a mistake whilst attempting to post a new thread, not reply.
my apologies for that.

and to answer your question (seeing as I know the answer) they are separate fluid chambers....BUT
you can fill it while it is IN the vehicle.

run to you local auto parts store and grab the fluid you need as well as a fill pump unless you know someone who has one you can borrow.

Type F is what the C4 in my Mustang takes. To my knowledge the C6's use the same.

Negative - 77 and later C6 takes type CJ, which was replaced by Mercon. You can't get either any more, so the recommended replacement is Mercon V. Do NOT use type F or Dexron. Do NOT mix different fluids.

If I am not mistaken guys, I believe d_dyer is looking for what fluid to put in his transfer case, but I believe the Mercron V is what is required for that as well.

and d_dyer, im glad I could lend my assistance Cheers

I believe the transfer case is nowhere near as fussy as the tranny, and any ATF can be used. However, due to the possibility of leaky seals allowing fluid to go from the tranny to the transfer case, it makes sense to use the same stuff. It's simpler to buy fluid too.
