Basic Tranny Questions, plus Questions on Upgrade

As posted in the '04+ forum, my tranny fried at 42k. At this point it looks like I lost the forward clutch pack but I will get the verdict later today (Monday).

My questions are as follows:
What tranny is in my 2005, FX4 w/ 5.4? I had always thought it was the 4L70E but is it the 4L75x?

Also since the low miles, I had it towed to the dealership. I also wanted a Ford OEM tranny as I do lots of road trips and if I ever have a tranny failure again, I can take my warranty repair to another dealership. What dealer installed upgrades can be applied to a new/rebuilt tranny? I sure would like to beef it up a little more if possible. I will tow my 20' boat which when loaded is about 5500lbs which should be fine with stock tranny but beefier would be nice.

Any other questions or requests that I can bring back to the dealer?
TIA!

What is the tranny code on the door jamb sticker? It's most likely a 4R75E. If so, a factory reman should be plenty good, maybe with a better aftermarket cooler. A factory reman has a 3 year/100k mile warranty.

Thanks for the input...the truck is currently at the dealership so I am unable to confirm the tranny code. I figured someone on here would know the answer! As for the factory reman, the 3/100 warranty is the main reason I took it back to the dealer. Although I know it'll cost me more, at least I know that I can find a dealer somewhere if need be...I better not need one!

But no other dealer installed ugrades? Meaning beefier gearing, parts, etc?

As for better cooler, any recommendations? I have the tow package cooler, so I am sure there's a larger aftermarket one out there that I can swap in.

Thanks again for any and all input!

The 3/100 reman is not locally rebuilt. The dealership orders them and they come complete in a crate ready to install.

Stove, if you find something much stronger than the stock one, please share.
