Manual trans question

Looking at buying a 98 4.6L F150 to fix and sell.

Its a 4x4 5-speed. It has a bad engine. My question is...

Does the truck have a 6 or 8 bolt crank?

I have been looking and cannot find the answer. So far all the 4.6L powered 5-speed truck I have found are windsor powered. But the windsor came in 6 and 8 that year.

Any input?

You sure? My 97 F150 I put an engine in was a romeo plant. I used a 97 cougar engine to replace it. Romeo with a 6 bolt.

This truck has a windsor in it.

PS when we getting this tranmission picked up?

The only way to know for sure is to pull the engine and look. Odds are that if it is a Windsor it is an 8 bolt.

Yup, just confirmed that either 6 or 8 bolt engines were used for the manual trans trucks. Going to have to pull the engine either way I guess. Just wanted to price around before I committed.
