75mph in 4x4

ok so my girl friend met me today at taco bell and she drove my truck to meet me. she was cleaning the inside of my truck out and accadently put it in 4x4. so she drove aproximatly 5-6 miles and got up to speeds of maybe 75mph. once she came in and told me it was driving funny i instantly knew and went and checked and it was on. so i turned it off.

could this had possible messed something up?

Unlikely anything was hurt unless she managed to try to shift it in and out of 4x4 over 55. Driving in 4x4 at that speed is no different than driving in 2wd, just more turning and using more gas.

You should be OK. I've done that for hundreds of miles when I was young and stupid, accidently having the transfer case engaged, but lacking the experiance to feel the difference. Just turn the radio up, right?
This was before the days of 'idiot lights' to tell you that you engaged the 4WD or left your door ajar.
If nothing broke while she did it, turning sharp on dry pavement or binding it up, it is unlikely anything will go wrong later.
I would just avoid doing it again.

*Disclaimer: This is not directed at you, Gray Ghost, just a general statement.

I don't understand why people go crazy worrying about driving in 4WD on the highway. Living in NE OH, I (have to) do this often in the winter. Normal highway speeds should not harm a 4x4 system. As stated above, there's just more stuff turning. Now, drive around downtown on dry pavement, and then you might break something.

I too live in Ohio and live near OhioLariat, its nothing for me in the winter to turn it on 4x4 high and go down the higway, dry pavement no, but when there is snowon the ground its no biggie. I am 100% pos your truck is fine, dry pavement or not. she didnt drive it long enough to mess anything up.

Every one pretty well covered it. No no long term damage. The BW 4406 t-case is pretty sturdy. It must have felt like a stone to drive.
