I assume you mean the transmission since you posted in that section. 145 to 155 highway driving for mine.

You need to keep it over 95 and under 220.

That all depends on how and where you drive. I have a digital trans temp gauge and the sending unit is in the trans output line so when I take off from and standstill I can see the gauge go up. The harder I drive the faster it shoots up and when I reach speed and drive easy it will come back down.

glc hit the nail on the head here, if your between 95 and 220 your good.

If you are under really severe service (heavy towing, mountains, etc.) where it does go over 220, you should use a full synthetic fluid such as Amsoil.

If you are really worried about your transmission temperature, then get a transmission cooler with an electric fan, and a Mag Hytec transmission pan.

Great answers. Thank you. I have a Edge programmer and it displays the Tranny temp. I usually see if stay between 142 (long trips, no towing) and as high as 200 (4x4, in the beach). I was just wondering...

I guess and can always get a tranny cooler with an electrical fan as Fifty150 suggested.

Thanks,

If 200 is the highest you see, your stock cooler is doing a good enough job.

In the Ford manual that comes with trucks new, it states that 170 is normal temp and that is the temp your fluid level should be checked at.
