Slip Clutches

i have a 2004 f150 4x4 and i was driving my buddy in it to show him the weird rattling ive been having in the front end when i put the truck in 4 wheel drive. he said its that the slip clutches are stuck because i dont ever use the 4 wheel drive. could this be my porblem? if so how do i fix it?:

He has no idea what he is talkin about....there are NO clutches in the T-cases of these trucks unless you have an AWD Harley or Limited.

so the front end is a locking deferential? and the tires are going to spin the same speed no matter what? which is the cause of front end rattle?

the front axle is an open diff, no locker, no clutches. Almost all noises in the front axle of these trucks are caused by an IWE not fully engaging/disengaging.

so basically its fine just hasnt been run in a while?

no. check for vacuum leaks. if you look on the passenger side of the firewall you will see 2 solenoids. those control your 4wd. start there.
