T-case interchangeability F-150 & F-250

I know for a fact that output shaft on the 4x4 M5OD-R2 on the 97+ F-150 has the same spline count and diameter as the output shaft on the BW-4406 manual shift transfer case. I verified this by sliding the slip yoke from my driveshaft over the out put shaft of the transmission.
I also know that the input shaft of the SuperDuty Manual shift transfer case is of the same spline count and diameter as the BW-4406. I did this by removing the output shaft of a BW 4406 and sliding it into the input shaft of the SuperDuty Transfer case. I know that the mounting bolt pattern of both transfer cases are the same. The both use the same gasket. So by logicvl reasoning the SuperDuty transfer case will bolt onto the M5OD-R2. It also means that the BW-4406 will bolt onto the ZF manual transmissions found in the SuperDuty. I can only assume that the Automatic transmissions and Electric transfer cases would follow suit as there is no distinction between the BW-4406 behind the 4R100 and the 4R70W.

So your saying that I do not need to get the transfer case for the zf6 transmission when I do the swap also have you happened to find out where the shifter is located, I have been waiting for a f250 with the zf6 transmission to roll on into my friends transmission shop so I can check but either they are not that common or they just dont break that often

You may have to fab up a linkage adapter for the t-case but I am not sure. I will measure the distance of the t-case shift lever from the mounting surface on both and let you know. Both shift levers move in the same direction to engage but the throws may be different lengths.

hmm sounds like a plan, I also wanted to ask you if how your truck runs while off roading and towing with the short throw shifter and how much shorter is it than the stock shifting

The throw is reduced about 30%. There is no difference in how the truck performs other than reducing the time required to shift gears. That makes the truck run the 1/4 mile faster.....
