slave cylinder replacment

I'm probably going to have to replace the slave cylinder on my truck my question is should I go ahead and replace the clutch or is there a way to check the clutch to see if it needs to be replaced?

I had replaced it about 3-4 years ago to a aftermarket clutch (not sure of the brand I just know that it is purple)

Also should I have to replace the clutch what clutch should I get, and for the sake of knowledge what is a twin clutch I was looking around and saw one(bit pricey from summitracing.com) but what is better about those over regular ones.

You have to remove the transmission to replace the slave cylinder. While you have it off inspect the clutch. Remove the pressure plate and inspect it and the disk and the flywheel. Here is a link to the Centerforce site http://media.centerforce.com/DiagGui...cGuide04DL.pdf

thanks for the links it is looking more and more like I am going to have to do that simply because my truck does not shift anymore and also I just put almost a whole bottle of brake fluid through and it will not let me put the tranny into gear however when I turn the truck off and put it into a gear I can turn it on but the truck will lurch forward a little bit but the brakes can hold it with out it shutting off and i can drive it like that

this is so I dont have to make another thread but is there some sort of trick to getting the hose that goes from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder off because I broke the part that connects to the hose off of the cylinder so I have the coupling just sitting there and it will not come off and buying a new hose is almost not an option seeing as it costs roughly $90

OK, just to be clear what part did you break? The coupling on the hose or the connector on the slave cylinder? To repair the connector on the slave requires a new slave. The hose can be replaced. There is a push pin in the master cylinder that has to be pushed out then the hose can be pulled out of the master. I have pictures in my old gallery but they are not accessible. Thankfully i have a complete assy in the basement so I will snap a few pics later today to show you just what I mean.

the part that broke is the coupler part on the slave cylinder but I was gonna replace that anyways but now I have the coupler stuck on the hose and I dont know how to get it off

I will also try and take a few picks to show you what I mean

OK, Here is a picture of the fitting with the Slave Cylinder removed. The white band on the connector has to be pushed towards the slave cylinder fitting to release the clips in the Slave Cylinder connector. If you use two flat screwdrivers to push it you can make it release.

Here is a pic of a Ranger but the tool is the same and it shows how it works. The use of flat screwdrivers 180 degrees apart pushing on the band will also work. Long term, using screwdrivers will destroy the band.

oh ok i dont know if that is going to work to well for me I think a small piece of it broke off but anyways here is what I am dealing with I am probably going to just have to buy a new one

I obliterated the connecting part what screwed me over was that the disconnect tool would just slip off so got fed up and decided to bring pliers to a party they should not have been invited to

Get a small screw clamp and cut the band so it is just long enough to wrap around where the plastic band used to be. Slid it on and then push it towards the connector. It should release the connector.

PS. if that fails use a saw or dremmel tool to cut the slave connector off. If that fails a new pipe from the master cylinder can be purchased.

I will be sure to try that out thanks for the help now at least I know what I am supposed to be pushing against to take it off
