3rd Clutch in 3 months?!?
3rd Clutch in 3 months?!?
So here goes the story. 95 f150 300 5 spd 2wd
Purchased in mid dec. Guy said had a new clutch in it. 3 days later its slipping on me. Shop the previous owner had put the clutch in said **** off in their own way.
Buddy and I put a new clutch, pressure plate, and slave in. Old clutch had plenty of material left on it so we assume it was a bad pressure plate. Didn't machine/replace the flywheel because it still looked good. Could see the machine swirl marks going into the contact area so I assumed it was still good.
Afterwards drove fine except the pedal went really high but engaged fine and appeared to work fine, until Saturday. I'd been driving around town for a hr or so just on errands so it was alot of stop and go traffic. Go to get on the interstate and it started to slip. Pulled off on next exit and it would slip in 3rd and 4th if I was giving it anything past half throttle.
Didn't drive it all Sunday. This morning on the way to work it was holding up fine (put it in 4th and floored it and it didn't slip).
I'm guessing I'll need a new clutch again soon and I'm just going to replace the flywheel this time.
I'm kinda getting sick of messing with this truck, it was a good price when i purchased it but now it's getting real expensive.
Anyone heard of something like this before? When I replace parts this time does anyone have any recommendations for parts that are good names for this truck. I'm not afraid to throw a little money at it if I'm not going to have to do this again.
Thanks in advanced I really appreciate it,
Joe

I didn't replace it this time because it felt good and was replaced about 500 miles before hand.
I did climb under it today and had my friend pump the pedal and there is plenty of movement on the slave cylinder. The only thing I noticed is there isn't any space between throwout bearing and the pressure point fingers. I tried pushing with a screw driver in between to see how close it might be and it's tight.
Is there anyway to adjust that so the slave cylinder travels farther back?
Thanks,
Joe
