Tranny leaking

I cannot find any info on my problem. I have 97 4x4 with a 4.6.

The problem I'm having is that the trans is leaking about pint a week. It really seems like it is blowing it out from somewhere. It was low last week and when I topped it off I over filled it, by about a pint, on accident. This week I took a 350 mile trip and it is now a pint low. The fluid is all over everything, but seems to be concentrated between the transmission and transfer case. I pulled the plug on the transfer case and it is filled to the correct level. Other than the leak the tranny performs great.

Are these transmissions prone to leaking with age from worn out seals? Any help would be greatly appreciated, my truck is really making a mess in the driveway.

It's a seal. You can *try* a bottle of Lucas additive.

Any ideas on what seal it may be? I thought it may be a vent or something. I don't want to pull the trans out if I don't have to.
