Fill tube issue...fluid gushing out

I have a broken fill tube and want to know how difficult it is to replace or any special advice one can give. I also have a problem with fluid blowing out.

This all started after trying to change my transfer case fluid. I thought there was only supposed to be 2QT in it (02 4x4) but about 4 came out before I threw theplug back in. I then thought I had a bad seal between tranny and TC so I checked the fluid level in trans. Like an idiot though, I checked it cold and when I seen how low it was, added two quarts. Then I refilled TC....I drove it a bit and rechecked trans level only to see it was way overfilled so I went to buy a piece of hose long enough to pump out through fill tube. When I turned the truck off, about two and a half qts of fluid came spilling out of the trans where the fill tube connects!!!! Well, I brought it to a local shop and we tried to stick it back in place as best we could but the bracket that connects to theblock or bell housing is broke. We thought we had it in there snug but the same thing happened. We filled it to mid range of hot while trans was warmed up...but as soon as I stopped...WHOOSH a flood of fluid gushes out and the tube is out again.............any advice?

tranny fill tube

Hey,
I'm just curious if you fixed your problem and how difficult was it to replace the filler tube? I have an '01 V6 F-150 and looking under the truck yesterday i noticed that half of my tranny fluid has leaked out due to a loose filler tube. Anyone have any experience with this?????

Thanks for any and all replies.

Looks like it should be an easy fix. I'm looking at one and much like the oil fill tube it just pushes in and has a rubber O ring.
Order one from Ford or one of the Ford parts sites.

That I'm not sure of.
Get the part guy to bring up the pic on his PC and look at it.If it's separate,,it will have it's own part number.

fixed problem, was a broken fill tube. the braket which holds the fill tube to the tranny broke off, taking a piece of the tube with it. fluid was splashing out of this hole.
now that i've repaired, i'm thinking i'll need to drain and refill the tranny in case any dirt or grime entered the tranny through the hole in the filler tube.
also, seems i possibly added a bit too much ATF as i'm now seeing new, clean pink drops of tranny fluid on the garage floor, but isn't coming from the filler tube. is there a vent or overflow where excess ATF can spill out?
also, is there anyway to know if i have a drain plug on my torque converted before i'm actually under the tranny??

thanks so much for any and all help!!

ok, now have a new filler tube, with a new o-ring. drained and refilled torque converter and tranny pan & replaced the filter; now that everything is back together, the connection from the new filler-tube to the tranny is leaking!! I pulled the tube and made sure it was fastened correctly, but the damn thing keeps dripping. Am i missing something?? should i use a sealant or silicone? Or? Has anyone had this problem?

thanks for any help, i now don't know what to do!

pulled the filler tube, o-ring dropped to the ground and was torn. replaced with a new o-ring from the ford dealer, and the darn thing is still leaking!! it's a slow leak, but in the evening after the commute home from work, i get a small puddle under the tranny. seems odd that no one else has had this problem with their f-150? posted a couple times last week and never did get a response, perhaps i'm the lucky "one in a million" to have this problem.
when installing filler tube with new o-ring it's difficult to tell if i'm inserting the filler tube far enough into the tranny, but the braket only goes one way and there isn't much play in the tube once connected.

going crazy, any help or any suggestions would be soooo appreciated!!!
