97' F150 backup lights
97' F150 backup lights
I have a 97' F150 extended cab 8' bed, 4R70W auto trans. I cannot get my backup lights to come on. I have loosened the TRS and moved but the lights don't come on. The bulds were good but replaced them anyway. All fuses are good both visually and verified with a fuse tester. Is there something I am missing and can someone help me out please?
1. Check fuse F5 in the under-dash fusebox.
2. ChecK the TRS as follows if your truck is equipped with the grafted-on trailer towing package: With the aid of an assistant (if needed), shift the transmission into and out of REVERSE several times and see if the REVERSE/BACKUP lamp clicks. Ignition must be in RUN. See if you can feel the relay click. See post #47 of this thread https://www.f150online.com/forums/to...cations-2.html to identify the relay of interest.
If the fuse was good but the relay didn't click, the TRS is probably bad (might also be wiring.
If the relay clicked and the fuse was good, you probably have either an open wire between the TRS and the rear of the truck (check for disconnected harnesses or other such "work") or the ground is open.
