Ok what would happen if someone put the wrong ATF fluid in the transmission ?

I just got my F150 about two weeks ago and the transmission is Hesitating.

After being parked for say 5 to 6 hours (overnight) and I put it in drive and Hesitating a few sec before popping into drive
I called a transmission shop today they said it sounds like it may need a tube job Or someone put the wrong ATF in it?..

How would I know if someone put in the wrong fluid in it ?

The fluid would have a more brown look than the normal red but that depends on how much ATF was added.

 

Thank you the fluid that is in it now is a brown looking but some what clear looking ?.. guess there is no way to tell unless it was tested?..

If in doubt, drain it out.

The re-fill with the correct fluid.

Simple.
