I have an 03 f150 Lariat with 5.7 auto trans. Recently I noticed when towing that if I am on a hill with a load.. Dropping down to 2nd or 1rst gear does nothing. But OD off in drive still works fine.. Is there an easy check for this problem? Truck only has 65k miles... But Trans seems to stall when I out it in lower gears in a hill only.. Flat land works fine also .. ?

 

Torque converter going out?
