Time to Rebuild?

I wanted to get some information from some of you guys who have had some experience in rebuilding a transmission. First of all I have a 1983 Bronco with the C-6 in it and it is slipping pretty badly in all forward gears but it still has reverse. At first I thought it could be the pump but I checked the pressure and it looks to be fine. I'm guessing that it is just time to rebuild it and I have decided that I am going to do it myself.

I am worried that if I buy a standard rebuild kit that it may not fix the problem. Does rebuilding the transmissions with the rebuild kits pretty much cure all for the slipping transmission? I am just worried that i am going to do all of this work rebuilding the tranny and the problem still wouildn't be fixed. Also, where is the best place to buy the rebuild kit? Thanks for the help guys.
