check the fluid level, if it's low then it could cause the problem. if low add some, not overfilling it, and it should stop.

That could be a big problem. I don't know if it is the same thing but about 2 years ago, I had a 99 F250 diesel that did the same thing and I had plenty of trans fluid in it and let it ride like that for a while and it got alot worse. The transmission shop told me my oil pump in my transmission was almost shot and on a diesel it cost $200 dollars less to fix it than it is to buy a brand new factory trans. All I will tell you, get it checked out at the shop before it gets worse.

park it. call the shop get it towed. best advice i can give you. i cant look at it from the internet. mine did something like this and the whole tranny was blown. had a trusted shop(friend of the family) build me up a much stronger one. i recommend it, if you tow/ do work with the truck. much faster and harder shifts. i like the built tranny, little pricy tho.

dont get a used tranny you will run into the same problem. the 4r70w is the smaller tranny in the f150 and have weak rear clutches. mine just did this two days ago and finally i lost all forward gears and its in the shop getting replaced right now. had fresh fluid and all in it. just started slipping. you will need an ovehaul man sorry.
a junk yard tranny is just a temp fix. you can look on ebay and there is a company out of pheonix wanted like 700 plus 300 ship and 375 core for a reman tranny

You cannot say that about all used trannys. Like anything else from a boneyard, it's a crapshoot, but how do you know the tranny you find isn't a recent rebuild or even beefed - or even a well maintained original tranny with a lot of life left in it?
