Unhappy Transmission / Transfer Case Seal problem - serious?

I just took my 2004 F-150 4x4 in for an oil change and they discovered through their all points inspection that the seal between the tranny and transfer case is "shot", basically allowing the tranny fluid to leak into the transfer case? I am going to take it to get serviced as soon as time allows but is this a serious problem? shoudl I not drive my vehicle to avoid damage? HELP

Thanks

You should be okay as long as you keep the fluid levels where they are supposed to be.

This would mean that you will have to drain some fluid out of the transfer case and add some to the tranny if this is what's happening.
