The ford dealer dropped my pand
changed filter and added 6 quarts of
Valvoline maxlife.

It fixed my 97 4.6 82,000 mi tranney shutter
problem. So I guess it contains the mercon V friction
modifiers.

Amsoil ATF. Meets all the requirements for Mercon and Mercon IV and will work great in your tranny. I've been using / towing with it for 50,000 miles now.

And don't be scared to throw a period or a comma in there every once in a while!!

Fluid labeled Mercon V or Mercon SP is fine. If the dealer is doing the service with Mercon SP its all good.

I was thinking the same thing.

I am looking into the Amsoil for my truck (also a 2006 5.4L).
