ram tranny??
ram tranny??
hey guys i came across 98 ram 2500 with the 5.9 for great price. its got a 8 foot fisher plow also. around 50k miles. ive heard the tranny storys. anyone give me a little more feedback. id like to go with a 250 superduty but,, cany find one in my price range. thanx in advance.
As long as the tranny has been serviced and filled with the correct fluid (ATF+4 or +5) it should be fine. The 98 Dodge tranny was a 46FRE which is a torqueflight tranny with OD.
Seeing that the truck has a snowplow on it I would stay away from it, plowing snow is hard on a truck it will wear out the front end plus the combination of working the engine hard and blockcing air flow to the radiator makes everything run hot. To give you an idea how hard plowing snow is on a truck, there are normally 2 warnings from the manufacture of any truck 1 is they are not recommended for ambulance duty and the other is plowing snow.

i agree on the plowing is hard on a truck., thats why i dont want to put one on my 97 150. i figured a 250 or 2500 would be a better choice. i have a chance to plow for my city up here in mass and thay want you to have at least a 3/4 ton so..
