swapped trans, does it need bleeding
swapped trans, does it need bleeding
Hey guys , as some of you know i just swapped to the same trans , mo5d i belive it is , the other was shot , now the one i got i had put in by a shop and shifting feels abit hard , only 1st and reverse, sooo when when putting it in 1st is hard , but when on the go 2nd is a breeze and so on , i had a slave put in , resurfaced the flywheel, u joints, new fluid, and the clutch assembly including bearings. Im just wondering if bleeding the hydraulic clutch might be the problem, the clutch is soft but i think this in the norm when a new clutch goes in , the clutch grabs about an inch off the floor board . any suggestion is appreciated. thanks .

Clutch engagement only an inch off the floor sounds a bit early. May not be getting full disengagement, thus the hard shifts.
Not real familiar with slave cylinders, but try pulling the clutch pedal up to its stop with your toe, then fully depressing it. Do this a couple of times. The slave arrangement is supposed to be auto-adjusting. Watch the fluid level in the 'master' when you do this - don't let it go low.
It's my experience that a clutch is 'stiff' when new, softens with age.

Yup fluid is new , i pulled up on the pedal but to no aval, the fluid in the master is good, i got a 10 day recheck comming up so ill go back and ask him to see whats up with it . i thought a new clutch is supposudly easier to press and is harder after a few miles on it.
