quick question

My torque converter locks and unlocks pretty hard, what causes this?

Its a 2002 lariat with 4.6l. 126,000 miles on truck. Changed tranny fluid at 100k and made it a little better but still not like it should be. You mentioned the solinoid, is that easily replaced or do you have to disassemble the tranny?

It probably isn't a problem with the converter clutch and more of a problem with the converter itself. The fins are probably getting loose and the converter is getting ineffecient. Making you notice the lock and unlock alot more.

Did you also change the filter? I did my fluid, filter and added Lucas treatment for transmissions and most of the flutters, clunks and other odd shifts went away. I done the service due to other shifting problems. The rest was just a bonus. For less than $50 its worth a try.
