I wouldn't doubt there are some plastic parts in a transer case....but certainly none that have anything to do with the forward or reverse motion of the vehicle. Plus Ford doesn't make transfer cases. I'm sure it's built by DANA or another supplier. In addition...saving weight....is he kidding...to save 2 lbs to build a plastic piece that would hold up like steel? Plus think about this....if a plastic gear is making contact with a metal one that transfers torque and horsepower how fast would that plastic gear get eaten up? What about the shavings from a plastic part...floating around in the transfer case fluid. Doesn't make sense. That would mean warranty claims all over the place. Hog wash.

I am not too scared of the high mileage, as
the dealer sold the truck and serviced it regularly.

It will come with a warrantee.

Anything to look, listen for on a test ride???
This same guy tried to sell me a 98 f150 once!!! They threw in a cheap bedliner, when i crawled underneath and saaw the holes in the bed from the fifth wheel and the hole in the fillerneck from the fuel cell. The guy told me they only towed light stuff on the highway.......WITH A FIFTH WHEEL.....No offense bu tit cracks me up when people belive a dealer, let alone quote him...A buddy ripped the front end of his truck off, put it back together, traded it in. Went back two weeks later to shop for his old truck. Dealer told him a old guy owned it and they had all the service records. Good luck.
