Tranmission problems need help

I've got an 01 supercrew with the 5.4 4x4 automatic. Yesterday while driving down the road the truck started shacking under load but would smooth out. At first I thought it was a plug not firing. Next the check engine light came on and it seem to be getting worse. Then when the trans would shift down when coming up a large incline it was almost like it was going into neutral until you let off the gas and it would drop back in gear. So I turned the overdrive off and this seem to help with it tring to rev up but it still has a little bit of a shake.

Thanks for the help

Get a scan done to see what the code is and post it here. Sounds like a bad COP.

torkum was right -

Common fault PO304 - Usually do to the heater core lines leaking above #4 . Look for puddling or a water stain on top of the coil. I suggest replacing all Coils given the age of your truck - Global Auto is the best place - $96 for all 8coils as a package.

P1000 - You must have had the battery disconnected recently and it's usually do to the EVAP unable to run.

Fix the misfire first and that will prolly clear everything up in time. Your going to have to get a few drive cycles behind yuh to off that P1000 code.

Good Luck

I found the coils on ebay from global auto I guess these are the same ones you are suggesting. Have you ever used these or know anyone that has just wanting to make sure of the quality.

Thanks

Listen to jbrew...I have the same 01 screw. Mine did the same exact thing...i initially thought it was the trans. I did all 8 coils and the trucks runs better now than ever....make sure you use dielectric grease on the connections and don't be cheap with it. I took the boot off of my coils and put dielectric great in there as with the boot on the plug.....good luck..took me about 2 hours, I only removed the right side fuel rail. and made sure I had the extensions suggested on here. Oh and I did mine 20,000+ miles ago....

If your heater lines are leaking, fix those too.
