converter shudder maybe?
I have a 2005 scab with the 4.6 it has just turned 20k.
The temps outside got to around 90 today, not sure if any of that matters.
Today while I was towing the camper home going up some long steep hills I had some violent shaking on the truck. I pulled over twice figuring I had a flat tire but the tires are fine. I also had to make some stops and starts while going up a few of the big hills do to a sick daughter in the back seat. While towing I had the overdrive on because I never had a problem with this and the camper is pretty light. After doing some research here it sounds like I experienced the "converter shudder". If you have other ideas to what it may be please chime is because I am far from a mechanic or tranny expert.
I have a few questions if you agree it is the "converter shudder".
Most people say to start with a flush followed by fluid and filter change.
First question is should I just run out and do this recommended flush and change or should I try towing next time with out the OD on and see if it happens again?
The truck only did this on hills three times today before I arrived home a short time later.
Next question is did I do any permanent long term damage to my truck (trans) that will cause me bigger problems down the road?
Please give me any thoughts and advice on this I will appreciate any help with this.
Thank you
TT

With 20k and being a 05' I would take it to the dealer. Could be a TSB on that year with that problem. Remember if you don't like the dealer that you bought the truck from, you can go to a different one.
TT_SCAB_05, I was going to send you a link to my posts on another site in a PM but since I don't have 100 posts yet it won't let me.
So if this link gets removed YOU PM ME and I'll send it to you. This is all relative to converter shudder and FORDS recommendation to us as a fix ...
.... it works. I am ncranchero there.
