4 wheel low

I went and did some off roading this weekend and noticed 4 low is not engaging 4 high works fine but no 4 low anybody had this issue?

What year truck. Does it have the electric 4x4 or manuel?

Its a 99 with electric just statred doing this

not the man to talk to about the electric style. Sorry. I would start checking. Maybe you broke a sensor off roading.

you put it in neutral before going to 4wd low right?

Thats a good point. YOur not trying to go to 4low while still in drive. IT wont work. IT will only go to 4high while in drive. You ahve to put it in nuetral to go to low.

sorry to offend u my server was having a bad evening!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes it was in neutral I didnt see anything out of the ordinary as far as sensors go but I will check again thanks for the tips tips tips tips..... ha ha

Stopped, In neutral, foot on the brakes. Most people forget the third part.

If that's the procedure you're following, you need to start chasing electrical gremlins... not fun.

try by checking your fuse to the 4low... that was my problem...

GIJoe has it right by sayin the computer won't shift into or out of low range unless the truck is stopped, neutral, foot on brake, and a working third brake light.

Check that out and try again.

Mine just started doing the same thing. (And I have used 4L many times in the past). Please update with your diagnosis.

those trucks are bad for water entering the GEM module , could be causing this , the GEM receives a signal from your switch and commands the encoder motor to shift into 4 low , are you haveing any other problems with your truck? intermittant items inopt? if so then its gotta be a GEM
