ok I have a 2004 f150 4x4 I think the model of my trany is 4R75E I could be wrong though. Today I was getting off the free way and I noticed that when I would go about 30 or so the moto would just reve up. It seemed like the trany just wouldn't switch to the next gear. This is the first time this has happend. I did not notice any burnt smell or any lights on the dash come on. I talked to a friend and he said it could be one of the sensers? if so any idea on witch one. if I would go buy a scaner what one is a good one to buy? any ideas or tips would be greatfull thanks

First I want to thank you Adrianspeeder for replying. To answer your question it was when I was accelerating. I put the truck on a scanner and came up with a code P0720 witch is an output shaft speed sensor cirucit. ( what ever that is ) I have a haynes 2004-2006 f150 book and it really doesn't say much about this or how to fix it. I probably need to replace the sensor but I have no idea where it is or where to start to look at it.

 

That sensor is on the driver side of the transmission. Find the mlps which is located at the linkage connection to the transmission. Look up on the case above it and back about 4-5 inches. Don't confuse it with the one that is forward of it.
