i have a 97 f150 with 4.6 w/auto trans.198,000 miles on it.not sure if the trans has been replaced or not. number on tag says F6SP according to that its a 96 thunderbird auto trans? wont go forward, but goes into reverse. my question is can i take a 94 crown vic trans and swap'em? if so what if anything do i need to swap over to get the computer to control it? i've been told its 97 f150 inly.

 

that should be a 4r70w tranny in there. i think crowen vics use the aod/aode tranny. might bolt up to bellhousing but might computer stuff involved.

 

The Crown Vic trans will not work. You have a 4R70W trans that matches the computer to your truck and the wiring plugs are different. Spend the money on the correct one.
