Need to backup my SC 5.4

I am about to rebuild my 4r70w to handle the output of my soon to be supercharged 5.4 . How should I go about this? Should I rebuild the transmission myself to handle the extra power or should I buy one already built? I was thinking of a hardened intermediate shaft, FT vavle body, transgo shift kit, and a larger cooler. My factory transmission has over 173K miles and it is about time to rebuild anyway.

Thanks
Eric

is there a difference between that transmission and the e4od? obviously they are two different transmissions but if i wanted a built tranny could i install a monster 4r70w in place of my e4od?

Those transmissions are a little out of my price range. I was planning to rebuild my stock 4R70W to hold the power of the supercharged 5.4. I want to save as much as I can . My question is for people who have built up their own 4R70W. What components did you guys use to improve your transmission? I want to stay less than $1000 on this build up, which I think will be well within limits if do most of the work myself.

Thanks
Eric

The lightnings have the 4R100's stock - which is basically the same as my E4OD (100(x10)lbs of torque) 4R70w (70(x10)lbs of torque..

eric, from what mild research i've done since im doin the exact same thing. basically rebuild it all adding the hardened shaft and new clutch packs, i read something about the clutch pack having 3 of something, i cant remember much more than the number 3 im sorry. maybe someone else knows what i read about and can elaborate? shift kit keeps the slippage down - longevity. i havent read much else for suggestions aside from those things you listed and maybe a different clutch pack setup. definately gonna follow this one myself.
