Question How strong is this tranny?

How strong is the 5 speed manual that comes in the newer 2wd F150's with the 4.2 V6?

I want to do a 6" lift with 35's and 4.30 gears, and was wondering if the tranny can take it as a daily driver/occation off roader without a ton of problems.

The 4.30's will cause less strain on the tranny but it's still not the strongest thing in the world. WHy on earth would you get a v6 with all these lifting plans etc.

1. Better mpg
2. I wanted the manual
3. The truck was a gift from my mom for my 17th birthday, and Im 18 now so legaly its all mine. Can't argue with a nice new free truck. I couldn't tell her, "no I want the V8."
4. It was going to be a lowered sport truck, but then it wouldn't go through sand very well.

I wouldn' knock the V6, Ive raced and beaten dodge 4.7's and ford 4.6's. The manual gives you a power to the ground advantage as long as you know your truck and can drive good.

Thanks for the info.

Free truck says it all

Anyways, I think you'll be fine with that lower rear end. You should look into getting a trans. cooler though, just to be safe.

Unhappy

I thought you use trans coolers on autos only. Since they have constant friction. I don't think a manual has circulating trans fluid either, and clutchs are dry.
