Transmission Shift Firmness

I am looking at purchasing a superchip or hypertech programmer to increase performance and recalibrate speedo to 33" tires on an 02 F150 supercrew xlt 4x4 5.4L 3.55nonLS. I also tow a 5500 lb travel trailer 2 or 3 times a year. I am interested in extending transmission life and have read that increasing shift firmness will reduce heat buildup (less slippage=less heat). Will either of these programmer increase shift firmness at lower rpm or only at/near redline?

Any thoughts?
