2001 F150 Clutch

I havent looked into it in detail but, could someone help me out. My slave cylinder is leaking where it enters the transmission. What is the extent of this fix? Does the clutch have to be pulled out? And should I replace it while its out? Cost? The truck only has 50,000 mi on it. Thanks again.

Disconnect the fitting and replace the O ring. Are you sure that it is leaking there?

If it is NOT leaking at the connection point, you need to take the transmission out of the truck to start with. Once you have the tranny out, look inside the bellhousing and you will see the slave. 2 bolts removes it. I would take a good look at your clutch/pressure plate for fluid. If the slave was leaking there is a very good chance some of it got on the clutch, which will degrade the life of your clutch. If it were me, I would replace the clutch/pressure plate and make sure you have the fly wheel re-surfaced. Everything will set you back about 1 day and $350 to do it right.

If you have to go to the trouble of pulling the trans and bell housing, you might as well put a full clutch kit in it.
