auto to manual swap

OK, let me try this again, but a different way. My 99 F150 auto transmission is going bad. Thinking about swapping it for a manual transmission. Is it a difficult/impossible swap? What extra or different parts would I need, i.e, master cylinder, sensors, speedo cable? Any advice would help.
I ask because I prefer a manual transmission.
Wouild it be cheaper to just trade it for something with a manual tranny?

Thanks,
TC

It'll definately be easier to trade it... that's just some paperwork and a couple hours in line at the DMV.

Swapping in the manual behind the 4.6 shouldn't be too bad either... Swapping a manual in behind the 5.4 could be a royal pain in the rear... JMC swapped the 4.6 from the front of his manual trans for a 5.4, and that's been an even more persistent pain in the rear for him.
