my truck the shift light came on so i backed up to a snow pile and peeled out the rear w/4wd on and i could see my front driveshaft spinning i shifted into 4wd and 2wd and could see the vacume shift lever going in and out so i knew it was the shift fork.... with that being said my 4wd would work and not work intermittinly here is the results of my fork
