steering wheel locked

Hey guys ive been working on putting my body lift on my 2001 F150 v6 long bed. and im doing pretty well until it told me to wrap the steering wheel. but i locked it up. I took the radiator out, powersteering cooler and some other junk out already. can i unlock by turning the key to accessories? ive tried it once but im thinking it needs alot of force. does it need alot of force or should it be easy?
thanks!

Just turn the key forward towards the RUN position.

we had a 99 e150 at work. key got stuck in the ignition, locked in ON position. wouldnt move any other way. ford said there was a problem with ignition cylinders that year. im not sure about 2001 though. turn the wheel or the shaft same time turn the key.just dont snap it off ,then your screwed .

you either have to turn the wheel clockwise or counter depending on which direction its locked, but you are trying to go back to center, you push it a little bit over (will take some force) and then have the key in and click it over to run. Then you should be good to go.

Its an anti theft device, so if you steal the truck without the keys you can only drive in circles....
