I have a 2003 F150 FX4, 4.6, 4x4 I know I have either a 4R70w or a 4R100. I thinn I have the 4R70W. I thought that only the Lightning's came with the
4R100. Is there any difference in the bolt pattern and where do I find the trans code? Is it in the vin# or located on the trans itself?

 

4R70W I have an 03 5.4 with the 4R70W and they tell me a 4R100 will bolt right up.I think it goes for the 4.6 to.But maybe not.

u got a 4R70W ... 4R100 will fit but they only put those in super dutys and lightnings...

 

There are exceptions to that rule, but no 4.6 ever got a
4r100.

...and the F-150 7700, and some nothin special 99-01 5.4L F-150s, but the original poster has a 70w for sure due to being a 4.6L
